Program Description
Schneider Electric has provided a training program where distributors and service technicians could apply for training to perform start-up on the Square D drives that we recommend for HVAC & PUMP applications. Any service provider, with a proven level of competence in motor control and a firm understanding of drives, may apply to the DSC program for membership and complete the certification requirements by taking the class AUTi215 through the Square D customer training department. Click on the Training Information link at left for further details
This program has two membership levels:
Level 1- FACTORY TRAINED program is for anyone who has taken the AUTi215- Drives Startup Training class, through Square D’s training department and passed the test.
Level 2 - CERTIFIED program is for anyone who completed Level 1 requirements and wishes to upgrade their status by signing our Liability Agreement (See Program Requirements page to downloaded this agreement). That’s the only difference between these two levels.

WHO CAN TAKE THE COURSE? The Drives Start-up course (AUTi215) is for distributors, customers, System Integrators, Control Panel Builders and 3rd party contractors, for HVAC & PUMP applications for the following drives listed below
WHAT DRIVES ARE COVERED IN THE COURSE? Altivar® 21, Altivar® 31, Altivar® 61, Altivar® 71 the S-Flex™ ( 21 & 31), and the E-Flex™ and M-Flex ™. As of July 2006, the Altivar® 58 will be phased out of the class as obsolete.
HOW LONG IS THE COURSE? This is just a one day class, normally 8:00 AM to 5PM. As of May 2008, this class was revised to be 75% hands on lab work with the drives listed above. Class start times may vary depending on location commuting needs, and students may leave upon completion of their lab work. Please note- testing is based on material covered in the class for both Pump & HVAC applications.
WHAT ARE THE PROGRAM BENEFITS? Participants who pass the course requirements will be qualified to perform their own start-ups at whatever competitive rate they choose in their own market. They will be invited to list their services on our FIND A DSC Technician database located on us.squared.com. Upon successful completion of this program, a certificate of completion will be issued to each student. Registration and participation for this program is done totally on-line. All program graduates, who pass the exam will be given program membership and access to the on-line extended warranty tool. This is accessible ONLY through our DSC program Member’s Only web page.
WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN THE PROGRAM AND THE CLASS? The program is run completely separate from the class. You apply for the program membership through this web site. You must contact Square D’s Customer Training dept for class registration and testing. Once you complete the class and the exam, you have completed only part of the program requirements for program membership. There are 4 steps in completing the entire program application process. (See Program Requirements page)
TOOK THE CLASS YEARS AGO? Drives Start-up technicians who attended our older DSC programs prior to May 2008 PUMP & FAN curriculum launch and now wish to upgrade their status to be compliant with our 2008 program standards need to:
1. apply for program membership on our web site

3. sign our current Liability agreement (for Level 2 program participants). Some participants may be qualified to be grandfathered in to Level 1- FACTORY TRAINED status. Contact the DSC coordinator for more details.
