Product Processing application


Description


Application: Processing of moving products. With reference to the tool, the product does not move, i.e. product and tool move at synchronized speeds.
Application areas:
Function: The supply speed of the product to be processed is set as the reference value in the controller. The controller calculates the required speeds and positions for the horizontal and vertical axes by means of CAM profiles.

Motion control challenges
The challenge consists of obtaining high positioning accuracy at maximum production speed.
The control must be able to respond to even minimum changes in the supply speed of the product and to send modified speed and position signals to the drives.
A fast return to the initial position is the key for high cycle times of the process.

Solution

The system was implemented with BSH servo motors. These servo motors are compact, have a low moment of inertia, reach high speeds and can rapidly accelerate and decelerate. The motor parameters are automatically loaded by the Lexium 05 servo drives servo drives via the integrated SinCos encoders. The multi-turn absolute encoder allows the machine to retain its current positions in the case of under voltage so that additional homing is not required.
The complete handling system is built with Schneider Electric PAS linear axes. These highly flexible axes are easy to mount. They are available in two versions as spindle or toothed belt axes.
A Schneider Electric Motion Controller receives the speed signal of the product from an encoder. The CAM profile function makes it easy to create the algorithm required for the motion of the tool. The servo drives are controlled via pulse/direction signals.
