Format Adjustment Application
Description
Automated format adjustment with short setup times for small series in the printing, packaging and timber industries.
This machine cuts the paper supplied via a reel at different widths at high precision and enables flexible setup.
Solution
The production parameters are communicated to the SMC motion controller via OPC mechanisms. The motion controller executes the production parameters and coordinates the drives via CANopen.
The format adjustment unit is equipped with integrated drives ILE. Due to the compact design and the simple wiring, these drives can be mounted on one linear guide.
The integrated drives ILE are positioned via the linear guide according to the preset formats. Each drive is equipped with a multi-turn absolute encoder which, in case of under voltage, stores the current format position for a restart without homing.
